Through Juilliard’s Creative Enterprise initiative, students can participate in partnerships with organizations beyond the campus to forge relationships and pathways as they envision the next steps in their careers. Opportunities include excursions, residencies, workshops, tours, and special visits in New York City and the broader community.
Juilliard NOW Series at Lincoln Center’s Restart Stages
As a part of Lincoln Center’s Restart Stages, Juilliard NOW featured free student performances from the Music, Dance, Drama, and Preparatory Divisions in Damrosch Park and Hearst Plaza as well as pop-up performances around New York City.
Juilliard NOW: Continuum at Lincoln Center’s Restart Stages
Marking the emergence from the pandemic and the challenges and achievements of the year, this program directed by faculty member Stephen Wadsworth celebrated the continuum of history, live performance, and the path ahead.
Through the Window Series at Alice Tully Hall
A socially distanced initiative in collaboration with Lincoln Center, “Through the Windows” featured students from all departments of the Music Division as well as students from the Preparatory Division who performed inside Alice Tully Hall with sound amplified to passersby to enjoy from the streets outside.
BluePrint Fellowship With National Sawdust
In collaboration with National Sawdust, the BluePrint Fellowship gives emerging Juilliard composers a chance to partner with leading composers in the field for career, project, and commissioning mentorship. The BluePrint Fellowship collaboration between National Sawdust and Juilliard is generously supported by the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation.
100 Years | 100 Women
In celebration of the centennial of the 19th Amendment, a major step towards women’s enfranchisement, the Park Avenue Armory and ten other multi-disciplinary cultural institutions across New York City, including the Juilliard School, created the 100 Years | 100 Women project. Juilliard students from the Dance, Drama, and Music (Jazz) Divisions dynamic virtual response is titled The Women in Me.
Collaboration with the Ensemble Intercontemporain
Mentored by Juilliard composition faculty, and under the guidance of Music Director of the Ensemble Intercontemporain Matthias Pintscher, seven Juilliard composition students wrote 5-minute miniature works for Solo, Duo, Trio or Quartet, recorded by seven Ensemble soloists in Paris.
Juilliard NOW at the Atrium
Juilliard’s location at Lincoln Center creates exciting opportunities for artistic cross-pollination, providing young artists with fresh insights into the creative process and audiences with an early look at the outstanding musicians, dancers, and actors of tomorrow. This Juilliard NOW performance showcased Juilliard Pre-College and college chamber ensembles to show the next generation’s resilience and excellence.
The FENDI Vanguard Awards
As part of the partnership between FENDI and Juilliard, the recipients of the second set of winners of the FENDI Vanguard Awards were announced in 2022. This honor celebrates four students—one actor, one dancer, and two musicians—annually, who display the potential to be future innovators in their discipline and across the performing arts.
Little Folk-Song Serenade With the Bank of China
In honor of Bank of China’s 40th anniversary in the U.S. in November 2021, Bank of China USA and Juilliard collaborated in a performance of Little Folk-Song Serenade. The school’s campuses in New York and Tianjin worked together to present this piece, composed by Juilliard alum and Tianjin faculty member Niccolo Athens. Little Folk-Song Serenade is a celebration of the shared commitment to fostering cross-cultural understanding between the U.S. and China.
Royal Academy of Music Recording Project
Six Juilliard students returned to the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) in London to continue their work with conductor and Creative Associate Barbara Hannigan. WITH Hannigan conducting, the Juilliard and RAM students spent the week rehearsing, performing, and recording Stravinsky’s Concertino, Concerto in E-flat Major “Dumbarton Oaks,” Octet for Wind Instruments, Ragtime, Septet, Three Japanese Lyrics, Trois Petite Chansons, and Two Poems of Balmont. These recordings will be compiled into a full-length album produced by Jonathan Freeman-Attwood to be released by Linn Records.
Juilliard @ Chelsea Factory: March 2022 Residency
Juilliard partnered with Chelsea Factory to present the venue’s first public concerts. The school’s inaugural residency at Chelsea Factory consisted of six performances and a special event that showcased Juilliard Jazz and the multidisciplinary Creative Associates program
